Hello, beauties!

In this post I’m going to write about 10 key pieces every woman should own, being inspired by Cinzia Felicetti’s book: Assolutamente glam! Ms. Felicetti is a fashion writer from Milan, Italy, she worked for Cosmopolitan and now she gives us tips about the way women should dress and what we should have in our wardrobes.

Christian Dior introduced 3 terms: A line (It is narrow at the top and flares away from the hip towards the knees), H line (It’s straight) and Y line (It’s ample at the top and narrow at the hips).

  • Trench! ”You can’t go wrong with a classic trench and a pair of jeans.” ― Emma Watson

It was invented in 1914 by Thomas Burberry aka Burberry. The trench coat he came up with included straps and D-rings that were especially made for the British soldiers in World War I. It still remains as one of the essential items in fashion.

Worn by teenagers and young adults they were often refused admission to movies, restaurants and other everyday haunts when wearing them.  But the trend grew and during the 1960’s wearing blue jeans become more acceptable and by the 1970’s they were truly established as a fashion trend. The 80’s brought with it “designer jeans” and denim took to the catwalks.

Everything changed when T-shirts became an industry in the 1980s. The great graphics craze started when artists who had shunned the t-shirt now found a new canvas. T-shirts became a new marketing vehicle and people liked t-shirts.

Cashmere roared into vogue in the 1920s with the birth of the high-fashion sweater in America. Before then, knitted sweaters were utilitarian or athletic items. This changed even more when designers including Patou, Chanel and Schiaparelli began designing cashmere sweaters in the 1930s as fashionable, luxurious winterwear.

Ranging from flats to ultra-high stilettos, they have become an essential part of a modern woman’s wardrobe.
