Washing my hair once a week – My experience!

b1

As a girl who’s in love with her long, dark hair (and not only), I can say that it’s pretty hard, though, to take care of it. Washing and drying it involves a lot of time and patience – but I don’t mind drying it as long as I’m listening to music and singing (it’s an advantage that I don’t hear myself :)) ) – and if you’re in a hurry, then things get serious: you give up and decide to tie it in a pony tail. Well, I still think that having it tied at school is more comfortable.

People close to me know that I love washing my hair. It’s a personal thing. I love having it clean and smooth – and I really dislike seeing someone with dirty hair. I just don’t like it.

After being told multiple times that I should stop washing my hair every 2 days (not by my hairstylist), I’ve decided to give it a try. BIG MISTAKE! My hair has always been healthy and long and I’ve always washed it every 2 – 3 days. It’s been long since I was 6. I don’t see myself with short hair, it’s not my style, it doesn’t define me. I use a different shampoo and hair conditioner every 2 – 3 months, I blow dry it always (only during summer I let it dry naturally) and I straighten it every 2 – 3 days (I think I have something with these numbers) – and it’s always been healthy. I’m just lucky – even though it’s not as thick as I would like it to be and, unfortunately, it’s never been very thick – but I’m okay with that 😀

Let’s get back to the subject. Why was it a big mistake? Well, except the fact that I was feeling really weird not washing my hair for 5, 6 days, after washing it (yesterday), it’s all tangled and damaged. I don’t recommend you to keep it dirty for so long, especially if it’s used to being washed often. If it’s not, then it’s okay. But for my hair, it was a bad decision.

Remember that what works for me, may not work for you!

I’m curious about you. Do you like washing it only once a week? I’m waiting to read your comments and opinions 🙂

Beauty: 3 Steps for a Perfect Ponytail & How to get a great Top Knot!

Hello, my loves!

In this post I’m going to write about 2 hair styles, which are always a good idea when you have a bad hair day and you might run late for school/work etc. I’ve found these tips a few months ago and I would like to share them with you. I really hope that you’ll find them helpful and from now on it’ll be easier for you to have a perfect ponytail or a top knot.

Ponytail

Because it’s a style we wear almost daily, we never get tired of learning tips to perfect the ponytail. Here are this three essentials for creating a pony that stays in place even after a long day.

1. Direct your blow dry.

For a super sleek ponytail (and no bumps), you always want to blow dry your hair in the direction you want the hair to land. Blow dry hair from the root straight back in the direction of where the ponytail is going to ensure it lays properly.

2. Tilt your head back.

When pulling hair into a ponytail (Cutler pulled hair back in sections), tilt your head back slightly to create a tighter hold. This helps keep the hair underneath from slipping out after you secure the pony.

3. Upgrade your elastic.

When you secure a ponytail with a regular elastic, the hair loses tension over time and eventually slips out. Instead, Cutler used a hair bungee to wrap the ponytail. To keep the hair in place, twist one end of the bungee clockwise around the base of the ponytail and then twist the other end of the bungee counterclockwise, then tie the two ends in a tight knot.

Top Knot

Top knots are my favorite go-to hairstyle on days when I don’t have time to choose another styling route. The style is also helpful when you want to hide the fact that you’re hair doesn’t look the way you want it to look.

1. Flip your hair upside down when gathering hair into the ponytail. This will help you to get it as high as possible.

2. Once you’ve gathered the hair, flip upright and look up to the ceiling, so your head is tilted, which will make smoothing the hair into place that much easier.

Once your ponytail is secured, wrap the hair around the base and secure with four to five large bobby pins. The result will be a fuss-free hairstyle that will stay in place all day.

I wish you all a great week, full of joy and positive thoughts! ♥

Beauty: Tips on how to grow long and healthy hair! ❤

Hello, beauties!

Since I’ve just seen the first Coca Cola Christmas advert, I wanted to start writing my first post about Christmas, because I’m already so excited about this time of the year (as always)! After thinking twice about it, I’ve decided to post my first article about Christmas only in December, as soon as I start decorating my house (I caaaan’t wait!❤) Therefore, in this post I’m going to tell you a few tips for growing long and healthy hair.

Along the years I can say that my hair was abused. It was pretty blonde, black and..pink! Yes, it was pink. I wanted to dye it red and since it was my first time doing that, I messed it up so badly (only after a few weeks I realised why people were staring at me like that…). Anyway, it was another experience. I used to cut it, because I didn’t like my hair, too bad I didn’t know how to do it! Now I can say that my hair is long and smooth, even though I have some bad hair days.

Don’t wash it everyday! I used to do this like 2 years ago, for a very long time. I was told not to wash it too often for the reason that, when you do this, you’re taking off the natural oil in your scalp which allows your hair to shine. I know that some of you might wash it everyday because it has too much excess oil.

Use conditioner! The purpose of the shampoo is to clean your hair and the purpose of a conditioner is to repair it, plus it makes your hair shine, like you’ve just dyed it.

Less heat for your hair! I’m pretty sure you already know this, but letting your hair dry naturally, without your intervention, is very good for your hair. I recommend you this only if you are aware of that fact that you might get headaches and more awful things! (You should do this only in the spring/summer time.). Another ”less heat for your hair” tip is to stop using flat irons, or at least don’t do this often, in order to have a healthy hair.

Same goes with water. I don’t say that you have to wash your hair with ice cold water, but try not to wash it with hot water, because just as irons, it damages your hair.

Over-brushing. Doing this to your hair can cause split ends and breakage, and it’s causing just too much consistent friction for hair to handle. Cheap brushes don’t help either, causing snags and tangles that are hard to get out and resulting in broken hair and split ends.

Down below I posted a picture of some foods for heavenly hair, brought by Lauren Conrad (www.laurenconrad.com). I really hope that these 5 tips will help you get a healthy hair!
